Greatest form of flattery?

All of the lights

Enter the void

How do you find inspiration and still keep your art all about your vision? People constantly compare and contrast different artists, claiming they "copy each other." Anybody have an opinion on the Lady Gaga/ Madonna debate? So what should we consider "copying" and what is being "inspired?" Take a look at Kanye West's video for his song "All of the Lights." I throughly enjoy the focus on typography in the beginning, but it looks familiar... Check out the opening credits for the 2009 movie "Enter the Void." So did Kanye take Gaspar Noe's opening credit idea and use it as inspiration to base his own art on? Or did he blatantly copy an original idea? And for another typography based music video from Kanye West, (though this one doesn't seem to directly reference anything), check out the classic "Good Life" video.
